Self assessment accountant for online sellers
Self Assessment Tax Returns For Online Sellers
If you sell on Etsy, eBay, Vinted, Depop, Amazon or your own site as a sole trader, your Self Assessment tax return is one of the most important filings you’ll make each year. We handle it end to end, so you know exactly what you owe well before the January deadline.
Self Assessment Support For Every Kind Of Online Seller
Whether selling is your main income or a side hustle that’s grown, we make sure your tax return reflects what you actually earned, and nothing more than you owe.
Income & Expense Review
We go through your sales, fees and costs across every platform you sell on, so nothing taxable is missed and nothing allowable is left unclaimed.
Self Assessment Preparation & Filing
We prepare and submit your tax return to HMRC ahead of the 31 January deadline, with time to review it together first.
Trading Allowance & Registration Advice
If you’re not sure whether you need to register as self-employed yet, we’ll tell you plainly based on the £1,000 trading allowance and your actual turnover.
Expense & Allowance Maximisation
Platform fees, postage, packaging, home office costs, mileage. We make sure every allowable expense is claimed correctly.
Making Tax Digital (MTD) Preparation
We get your records ready ahead of MTD for Income Tax, so the move to quarterly digital updates isn’t a scramble.
Ongoing Tax Planning
Advice through the year on how much to set aside, when it might be worth incorporating, and how to avoid a January surprise.
Built For Sellers, Not Just Employees With A Side Business
Most Self Assessment services are built around landlords or single-income freelancers. Online selling brings its own quirks: multi-platform payouts, stock, returns and international fees. We know how to read a seller’s numbers, not just a payslip.

We Already Know How Your Platform Reports Your Income
Etsy, eBay, Vinted, Depop, Amazon. We work with sellers across all of them, so we already understand how each platform’s reports translate into your Self Assessment, without you needing to explain it from scratch.
Your Self Assessment, Handled Simply
We keep the process short and clear, whether this is your first return or your tenth.
Send Us Your Records
Share your sales data, expenses and any platform reports, either directly or through Xero if you’re already set up.
We Prepare Your Return
We calculate your income, apply your allowances, and prepare your return for your review.
Review, Approve, File
You check the figures, we answer any questions, then we file with HMRC before the deadline.
No January Panic, No Guesswork
Our clients know their tax position months before the deadline, not the week before it. That means time to plan for the bill, not just react to it.
Common Self Assessment Mistakes We Help Sellers Avoid
Not registering as self-employed until it’s overdue. Missing the £1,000 trading allowance and paying tax on income that didn’t need declaring. Forgetting to claim platform fees or postage as expenses. Filing late and picking up an automatic £100 penalty. We deal with these before they cost you money.
One Fixed Fee, Filed On Time
Self Assessment support is priced as a single fixed fee, agreed upfront based on the complexity of your income. No hourly billing, and no extra charge for asking questions along the way.
Self Assessment For Online Sellers: FAQs
Do I Need To Do A Self Assessment If I Sell Online?
If your income from selling is above the £1,000 trading allowance, yes, HMRC expects you to register and file a return, even if selling isn’t your main job.
How Do I Register For Self Assessment?
You register online with HMRC, ideally as soon as you know your income will go over the trading allowance. We can handle the registration for you if you’d rather not deal with it.
When Is My Self Assessment Due?
For the 2025/26 tax year, online returns and payment are due by 31 January 2027. We aim to have your figures ready well before that.
What Happens If I File Late?
HMRC charges an automatic £100 penalty for filing even one day late, with further charges the longer it’s left. We build in enough time to avoid this completely.
How Does Making Tax Digital Affect My Self Assessment?
From April 2026, sellers with qualifying income over £50,000 must move to MTD for Income Tax, filing quarterly digital updates instead of one annual return. The threshold drops to £30,000 in April 2027 and £20,000 in April 2028. We’ll tell you when it applies to you and get your records ready in advance.
Can You Handle My Return If I Sell On More Than One Platform?
Yes. We regularly combine income from multiple platforms, such as Etsy and eBay together, into one accurate return.
